Great Alne Primary School

Performance Data

Attitudes to testing, data and assessment have shifted in recent years but we believe in supportive, understanding values when testing. Children will be prepared for statutory exams that they will experience throughout their education. Data is available for parents and visitors to analyse at https://www.find-school-performance-data.service.gov.uk/

The 2023-2024 Key Stage 2 results for Great Alne Primary highlight some excellent achievements, particularly in grammar, reading, and maths, while also identifying key areas for growth that we are committed to addressing as part of our ongoing school improvement efforts.

For Reading, Grammar, Spelling and Maths, 100% of the children who completed their whole primary education at Great Alne were working at the expected standard or above.

Let's take a look in more depth:

Grammar, Punctuation, and Spelling (GPS)

    •    Final Result: 8 out of 12 at the Expected Standard or Greater Depth (66%)
We are thrilled to report that our students performed exceptionally well in GPS, with 66% achieving the expected standard. The strong outcome reflects the hard work of our pupils and the dedication of our staff in ensuring steady progress throughout the year.

Reading

    •    Final Result: 9 out of 12 at the Expected Standard or Greater Depth (75%)
With 75% of students reaching the expected standard, our reading results are a testament to the focused input from both our class teacher and teaching assistant. This success showcases the impact of targeted intervention and a well-rounded approach to literacy, ensuring our children are well-prepared for the next stage in their education.

Maths

    •    Final Result: 8 out of 12 at the Expected Standard or Greater Depth (66%)
Our maths results are another highlight, with 66% of pupils achieving the expected standard. This impressive outcome exceeds our predictions and reflects the strength of our teaching and intervention strategies, which have ensured that students feel confident and capable in this crucial subject area.

Writing

    •    Final Result: 4 out of 12 at the Expected Standard or Greater Depth (33%)
While our writing results leave room for improvement, we see this as an exciting opportunity for growth. We are committed to providing enhanced support for both students and staff in this area, with writing being a key focus in our 2024/25 School Improvement Plan. We are confident that by strengthening our curriculum and offering further professional development, our writing results will improve significantly in the coming years.

Combined (Reading/Writing/Maths/GPS)

    •    Final Result: 33%
Though the combined result is impacted by the writing scores, our strong performances in GPS, reading, and maths demonstrate the broad success of our teaching approach. With continued focus on writing, we look forward to further improving this combined outcome.

Looking Ahead

It’s important to highlight that for the children who have been with us from Reception through to Year 6, 100% achieved the expected standard in GPS, reading, and maths. This is a clear indicator of the strength of our teaching and the long-term progress made by our students. While writing will be a major area of focus next year, we are incredibly proud of the overall success our students have achieved.

At Great Alne Primary, we believe in the potential of every child, and we are committed to helping them excel across all areas of learning.
